David Tunnicliffe Education provides dedicated, personalised tutoring for children and young people with the special focus, on Special Educational Needs. Based in Crewe ( CW1 ) Cheshire, I offer tutoring sessions in that students family home, as well as tutoring sessions in the libraries for both Crewe and Nantwich. I understand that choosing a tutor for that loved one is a major decision, which is why I have now included comprehensive details on this website, helping you feel confident in my abilities to support your loved one in their education. It really important to note that tutoring is not restricted by gender. Men can and do provide tutoring services as effectively as women. I believe that my skills with 20 years experience make me well suited to support that loved one’s learning. Find information below if you feel I might be a good match for your family.
Every student is supported as the individual. I work closely with students building on their strengths, address the areas of difficulty, and helping them access that best possible educational opportunity. Every session, will be carefully tailored to suit the student learning style, study pace, and individual needs. No two days are ever the same when I tutor students. Every day brings that new challenge, discoveries, and moments of growth in their education journey. Supporting every student as the individual, means recognising and responding to all their unique strengths, needs, interests, background, also goals. When students are treated as the individual rather than compared to one another. They are much more likely to feel respected, motivated, and fully able to reach their full potential. I will work with every student, helping them achieve their goals.
My aim is to build on students confidence, promote a positive attitude to learning, and also support a steady educational progress. Each student is different, and recognising the differences, is key to supporting student learning, and development. I will look beyond a student’s disability and focus on their abilities, strengths, and potential. While I specialise in supporting that student with SEND, tutoring sessions are NOT limited, to these students. I tutor all students in Crewe and Nantwich that might benefit from extra support with education.
I can tutor students aged 5–16, and I also support older students studying at local colleges and universities. I specialise in Maths and English, but I am also able to tutor a wide range of subjects, fully supporting students in the area they are currently studying. The study materials are provided for each session. I have training and experience in using the AAC device to support communication, and students will need to have their own AAC device during session. Emojis are fun tool I like to use in tutoring to enhance engagement and expression. All students are welcome to use these during sessions to enhance communication and participation.
Crewe has a multicultural population and I am able to teach English to those who needing the support. I now work with children, young people, as well as adults. I support all learners in developing their English language skills enabling them to engage more confidently in daily lives. Support is available during tutoring session and also as independent support, depending on the individual needs. You may also be able to share your spoken language with me, giving me additional skills I could use during a tutoring session. Learning the new language could allow me to better support my students, especially in this diverse, multicultural world.
I believe tutoring should be a positive, and enjoyable experience. I never place pressure on the students and always allow them to work at their own pace, helping them feel comfortable, confident and fully supported in their learning. I am also available on the phone whenever a student needs extra support. Phone support can be available to my students between 08:00 and 20:00, Monday to Sunday, providing the ongoing educational guidance while students wait for next tutoring session. My goal is to give each student the consistent, reliable educational support they need to succeed. I strive to give my best in supporting each student even if I do not have all the answers. When I am unsure of an answer, I am committed to finding the correct one for them.

I am proud member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme and I wear this Sunflower card and lanyard. That reflects the ongoing commitment to recognising, supporting, also advocating for individuals with hidden disabilities, both personally and professionally. Living with a hidden disability, can be incredibly challenging in ways that are not always visible to others, from navigating education and social settings to dealing with those assumptions, and misunderstandings. That often requires constant energy to fully explain yourself, and even to decide whether it worth explaining this at all. I strive to provide each student with equal treatment without any form of discrimination. Having lived with that hidden disability throughout my adult life, I fully understand the struggle students face in similar situations.
